Invicta Men’s 2770 “Force” Collection

November 11, 2013

About 22% of the world is left handed, which is why most items are made for right-handed people.  That did not seem right for Invicta, in fact, it was so wrong that they created a left-handed watch.  There is not much of a difference in a left handed and right handed watch.  The two major differences are the clasp and buttons.  On a standard watch, the buttons are placed on the right hand side to accommodate the use of the thumb and the bands are reversed; all very simple fixes that make the lefties of the world a little happier.

The rest of the watch is just the same no matter which way you wear it.  The case of the Invicta Men’s 2770 Force Collection is a little larger than a typical watch, at 46mm wide; it is a large, but very masculine size.  The thickness is just as large with a staggering 12mm.  All the features of this timepiece do fill up the watch with little room left, but it still looks great.  The case itself is a very nice stainless steel silver with a black dial.  The white numbers really stand out in contrast.  Inside the hands are a bright white and are luminous, same as the numbers.  A great feature is the red second hand.  The mix of red on black really makes the second hand stand out in a nice clean fashion.

Along with the minute, hour, and second hand, there are three sub dials.  These are 12hr, 60 seconds, and 1/10 seconds.  On the outside edge of the watch is a very noticeable tachymeter.  Top it all off with 24 hour marks in red.  Invicta thought of just about everything and made it all look great in the process.  The band is a brown pigskin top, lite brown inside with white stitching, very classy to match the watch.  The band comes together with a standard clasp that shines to perfection in stainless steel.

Like other Invicta timepieces, it is resistant up to 100m or 330ft, which is more than enough to survive should it fall into water or another liquid, the band may get ruined but the watch will come out fine.  The watch face is a mineral to protect the hands, but this watch has Japanese quartz movement.  There is some debate on whether the Swiss or the Japanese have better technology.  Both are very good quality.

The one part of the watch that seems out of place is the date, which is placed at the 4 o’clock position.  While typically it is at the 3 o’clock area, the 60 second is there with the date on an angle under it.  Since this watch is a full 6mm larger than a standard watch, it does have some more weight to it.  Most watches are about 5-7 ounces.  The Invicta Men’s 2770 Force Collection is quite heavy at 16 ounces.  To put that into perspective, many steak houses will serve a 12 oz ribeye, this watch is still close to 4 ounces over that.

This time piece is a real work of art, it goes beyond just a simple watch.  It is not packed with features, but what it loses in the technology area it makes up with sheer style and class.  This is a watch to own when you want to show you are a real man.
